I've been to Holland and experienced the iconic windmills and tulips as far as the eye can see. Until this spring, however, I never knew that over 40 acres of tulips and daffodils are harvested each year in Woodburn, Oregon. The
Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is in it's 23rd year. In April when I attended a conference in Portland I built on extra days to explore beyond the beaten path, just as the tulip fields were in their peak. With four friends I frolicked in the flowers and blew through an entire memory card. It's a breathtaking scene.
