Completing My Craft Lake City Collaboration (sort of)

As my time working with Craft Lake City comes to a close, I've spent some time sprucing up the collaboration landing page. Originally, I only posted the introductory paragraph of the artist profiles and I included only a few photos from the workshop recaps. I did this to help drive traffic to the Craft Lake website. Now that the big push is over, I want everything to be properly posted and archived on my own site.

On the revamped page you can access an artist's profile or a workshop by selecting their cover photo. The full article and the full slideshow are now included on my site. Take a minute to look around, will you?

It's been a creative four months and I've loved the experience. Long-time readers will remember that I started 2013 with the power word ABUNDANCE. That intention took many forms over these past 12 months, one of which being CREATIVITY. I needed it back in my life and I expressed that need repeatedly. Well kids, my experience of this Universe is that you tend to get what you ask for. Eventually. Be specific and be ready. Intentions, focus, hard work...and saying yes. Keep saying yes.

I'll always look back on my time with Craft Lake as a period of rich creative renewal. I was able to flex my atrophied creative writing muscles, hone my rusty journalism skills, and dust off my camera. I got back in a groove and I needed that. I met amazing artists, many of whom live mere blocks from me, and am now thoroughly convinced that Salt Lake City is one of the craftiest cities ever. I gained the experience of working with a professional publishing team (Craft Lake was started and is still managed by the masterminds behind SLUG Magazine). I also now understand what freelancing feels like on top of my 40-60 hours-a-week j.o.b. (whew). On top of it all, I think I created a strong portfolio of work, if I do say so myself. And I do say so. I totally just said it. Bam.

Check out the new landing page. Read the profiles. Support the artists. Buy locally and buy handcrafted. Enjoy the workshop slideshows and how-to recaps. Get your hands dirty and get crafty with your friends. Read SLUG.

I'll retain the title of Contributing Blogger and they'll continue to contact me about future assignments. Stay tuned. Who knows...there may be another profile or two coming your way.

Love and abundant creativity,
me

The Cult of Done: A Manifesto

created by illustrator James Provost (click for links to purchase the print).

A few years back, Kio Stark and Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot and leader in the 3D printing industry, created The Cult of Done Manifesto. If you're not familiar with it, I want to share it with you. If this is old news to you, you're welcome for the reminder. This is good stuff.

As I'm working my way back to a creative mindset and creative set of habits throughout this year, I find myself getting stuck at familiar road blocks. And by "familiar road blocks" I mean to say paralyzing perfectionism. If it can't be a perfect end result right out of the gate, then it's not good enough and I need to stay at the drawing board, as it were. Lame, I know. Not very not present-minded, either. Eckhart would be so disappointed in me. While this pattern is engrained in my DNA, and it's not easy to shut that off, The Cult of Done Manifesto is an excellent slap in the face. Thirteen slaps, actually. Ready? Here we go:

The Cult of Done Manifesto

  1. There are three states of being: Not knowing, action, and completion. {tweet it}
  2. Accept that everything is a draft. It helps to get it done. {tweet it}
  3. There is no editing stage.
  4. Pretending you know what you're doing is almost the same as knowing what you are doing, so just accept that you know what you're doing even if you don't and do it.
  5. Banish procrastination. If you wait more than a week to get an idea done, abandon it.
  6. The point of being done is not to finish but to get other things done. {tweet it}
  7. Once you're done you can throw it away.
  8. Laugh at perfection. It's boring and keeps you from being done. {tweet it}
  9. People without dirty hands are wrong. Doing something makes you right.
  10. Failure counts as done. So do mistakes. {tweet it}
  11. Destruction is a variant of done. {tweet it}
  12. If you have an idea and publish it on the internet, that counts as a ghost of done.
  13. Done is the engine of more. {tweet it}

Whether it's long-range creative pursuits or motivation to empty the dishwasher, this manifesto is so packed with wisdom.

Love, number eight, and cheers to done,
me

Trust. Creativity. Antique maps and moolah. #mondaymeditation

We swapped! Alexander has my art and I have his art and now we're arting up each other's art. You can see what I finally mailed to him and watch his reaction to our swap in this video he made. If you're wondering what I'm even talking about right now, here's a quick recap.

Alexander and I have had interesting conversations about fear, abundance, trust, creativity, art, expression, and everything that's become wrapped up in this unique experience. I mean, it all sounds really simple, right? Slap some paint on a canvas, ship it to your friend, he'll throw some more paint on it, we blog, we all move on. Right? Not really. Not when you decide to dive into the lessons that an experience like this can teach. I've worked my way through eight months of 2013 with an intentional focus on creativity and maintaining a mindset of abundance. Painting (for the first time ever) was the way I chose to retrain my brain to live in an abundant reality. All of that work is culminating in such a fascinating way in this collaboration. In the convos below, Alexander is white/left and I'm blue/right:

OM indeed. So, what am I doing with his pieces? He sent two sketches, one lion and one woman. I'm putting words in his mouth, but as I interpret these pieces, the lion is meant to be Alexander (a Leo) and symbolizes his power word: Viral Mindfulness. The woman is meant to be me and symbolizes my power word: Abundance. He could've meant something completely different, but again, this is the magic (and trust) of collaboration.

I sent my painting to @blessyourvirus and he sent his sketches to me. Collaboration...ready...set...go!

I feel like the woman has a brave, water energy. I love that we're standing behind her and it feels like all the possibility of this wide world is right in front of her. The ocean is a powerful, sacred space for me and so that's where this woman will live. My first reaction was to paint her environment.

The woman @blessyourvirus sent to me has a brave, water energy. She belongs in the ocean, so that's where she'll go. #hippiedippie #getoverit

@blessyourvirus and I are discovering that creativity requires courage. True story.

Clearly abundance is about far more than money, but I wanted to infuse this collaboration with all types of abundance, including positive financial energy and abundance. Also, this was a great excuse to  incorporate beautiful currency from all over the world that I found in an antique store in Salt Lake. I've had the map forever and I actually think it was used as wrapping paper on a gift from an ex-boyfriend. Cut. Cut. Rip. Rip. New energy. New stories.

mixed media collage...she'll soon be made of maps and old currency from all over the globe. #imaybecreatingmyspiritanimal

hair done for today. dress tomorrow, out of colonial currency from Angola.

What does all of this have to do with meditation? Well, when I texted Alexander about our swap and our anxiety about messing up each other's stuff, I was saying this to him as much as I was reminding myself:

There is no wrong answer. You cannot possibly mess it up. It will be exactly what it wants to be. You will do everything right because you're doing it.

This experiment with each other is our relatively low-risk way of practicing, practicing, practicing these concepts of being mindful and abundant, as opposed to going through life disengaged or fearful. There is no wrong answer when it comes to creativity. Someone will look at a Rothko and think it's utter crap and someone will look at it and their whole life will change. If we can learn to take that fearless, abundant, mindful attitude with us everywhere we go, not just into the microcosm of our creative workspaces, we will have created something far greater than a few shared canvases.

Love and cheers to no wrong answers,
gail

New landing page: Collaboration with Alexander!

My artistic collaboration with Alexander is getting exciting, folks. We've swapped pieces and we're now working on each other's paintings and sketches, respectively. As we ramp up into the height of this project, I realized I want a landing page on this site to collect all of our posts and document our creative process. Well, ta-da...you can find that right here.

Follow along. Check back often. I have a post planned for this weekend to show you what I'm doing with Alexander's sketches. Hint: It involves antique maps and old paper currency from all over the globe.

For now, enjoy Alexander's experience of receiving my art and shipping his off to SLC.

As Alexander would say...

Love and namasgay,
me

Declaration of You Day: Recap #mondaydeclaration

To wrap up the experience I had with The Declaration of You Bloglovin' Tour, I participated in the Declaration of You Day. It was an all-day event hosted on Facebook, structured around moving all participants through each theme/chapter in the book. In the recapping words of organizers Michelle Ward & Jessica Swift, in 6 hours, 100 creative souls:

  • Gave away 15 books (9 Declaration of You and others from Natalia KW, Alexandra Franzen, and Susannah Conway), and a 3-month subscription to Tiffany Han’s Love Letters.
  • Chatted in real time with Kari Chapin, Colleen Wainwright, and Natalia KW.
  • Did 8 “speed” projects and shared our photos with each other.
  • Laughed our pajama pants off, made new friends and a big crafty mess.

Here's a glimpse into pieces of my Declaration of You Day:

Visioning board: In 5 minutes, cruise through a magazine and tear out anything that inspires you.

Celebration Jar: Write down things you can do so celebrate your accomplishments...

ta-da...Celebration Jar!

Declaring your uniqueness: "If you're born a lion, don't bother trying to act tame" (Ani DiFranco).

Power word. Amen.

"Draw your alter ego..."

To see what other people were up to...here's a few recap collages shared by Michelle and Jessica:

Channeling mandala energy #mondaymeditation

In last Monday's meditation I reflected on my first-ever painting experience: "I got all precious with each layer and felt attached to each little brush stroke." This specific experience was really a microcosm of my larger focus for this year -- abundance. I'm using painting not only as a way to reignite my creative chutzpah, but also as a way to retrain my mind out of a scarcity paradigm.

I wrote last week: "I'm going to allow my mind to let go of each layer, trusting that another equally beautiful layer is coming right on top of it." As I painted tonight, a sort of movement meditation, I worked my way through all sorts of nuanced thoughts that are part and parcel of my commitment to abundance. I thought about trust, letting go of my sense of control, and allowing energy to flow more freely in and around and through my life.

mise en place

When I was done for the day, I completely painted over the entire canvas with a fresh layer of paint. The red flowers and leaves are gone. The yellow shapes inspired by my kalamkari curtains are gone. Gone. All of it. It was important to me to treat this first layer like a mandala; not in a representational sense, because I wasn't mimicking mandala patterns, but in the sense that when it was complete, it was gone. It was beautiful. It was a creative experience. The colors were lovely. It flowed in and now, it flowed out.

Before I did anything, I set my intention for the piece. then painted right over it.

Trusting that another equally beautiful layer is coming right on top of it, I'll see where tomorrow takes me.

xo,
me

What acrylic paints are teaching me about abundance #mondaymeditation

Alexander and I are gearing up to launch a collaborative art adventure. In doing so, we're focusing on our power words as a muse for the project. For 2013 he chose viral mindfulness and I chose abundance. I can point to a few scattered posts about abundance since the year started, but probably none as direct as the "I'm wearing pink lace panties" post. And yet, even though I haven't written a lot about abundance directly, it's been an overarching theme that's guiding my quest to regain creative mojo.

In preparation to start working with Alexander, I've reflected on my first-ever painting adventure. I realize now that although it was very joyful and very creative, it was not very abundant. To explain what I mean, I'll contrast it to a painting experience I had last night. I went to Paint Mixer in Park City with my friend Meg. This was the second time ever I've put paint to canvas, and it was entirely different from my first experience.

For whatever reason(s), my first painting experience felt loaded with expectations. I started with the end in mind and I painted toward it. I was scared to mix colors because I thought I'd mess it up. I got all precious with each layer and felt attached to each little brush stroke. I went in thinking I wanted a thousand layers of stuff, only to stop myself short because I was painting with a scarcity mindset. My experience in the class last night was exactly the opposite and I sustained an abundant mindset throughout. Meaning: I ditched the teacher's template about two minutes in and just made it up as I went. I layered and layered and had no idea how it would end up looking. I rocked out to the music, sang along, marveled at Meg's talents (she's an actual painter), and had very little investment in the end product. I mean, I paid for the Groupon months ago, so whatever, right?

So. Painting. Abundance. Life Lesson.

The Dalai Lama said, "Attachment is the origin, the root of suffering; hence it is the cause of suffering." A scarcity mindset is the very definition of attachment. It holds on to everything because it's afraid to lose, it's afraid it will never get another shot at this, it's afraid to trust any sort of process. It's an illusion of control. An abundant mindset is detached in the sense that each moment is what it is, the end result is something that's sorted out through the nature of the process, the focus is on the flow of it all. As I enter my collaboration with Alexander, I'm going to promise myself no less than 10 layers of stuff on that canvas. I'm going to paint little bits at a time and leave it. Walk away. I'm going to allow my mind to let go of each layer, trusting that another equally beautiful layer is coming right on top of it. I will trust that there is no "messing it up" because at that point, that just is what the painting is. It just is what it is. And it's beautiful.

Love and layers,
me

Pint it!

I'm following through on a goal I set for myself after attending Alt Summit. Building on the energy of creating my editorial calendar, I also created Pinterest boards associated with each day and/or theme. Check out the revisions I made to the editorial calendar and you'll get all the links you need to re-pin and play along. Because how much do we love Pinterest? So much.

For example, I have a board called Wanderlust where the photos and resources from my Travel Tuesday posts will be pinned. You'll see the photos from yesterday's post on Castine, Maine already pinned and ready to go. Re-pin and spread the love.

There's a board for Denmark research, my Happiness Project, creative feats, link love goodies comin' at you every Friday, my photography, and more, plus the boards I already had before the blog was integrated (i.e. mostly dealing with my interior design obsessions).

The beauty of Pinterest is the collaboration, the community of pins and re-pins. Help spread the word. {click to tweet} #mymadeleines blog is now rocking Pinterest: globetrotting, photography, feats of creativity, design, & food porn! http://bit.ly/13tAnvl

Love and pins,
me

The Creative Collaboration Begins | The Blog Dare Day 24

{PROMPT} Let's get going!

I promise I'm happy, I've just never used FaceTime.
Getting it sorted took concentration, apparently.
This photographer prefers to be behind the camera.
And yes, I'm wearing a black lace camisole. Deal.
Today marks the start of something exciting. I'm launching an artistic collaboration with my friend Alexander. You can find his work and inspiring Bless Your Virus story on his website and on the Viral Mindfulness blog.

We're kindred creative souls in many ways. I cannot say enough about his light and warmth, it vibrates. We've decided to manifest all of our creative kindredness into a highly collaborative art project. It will involve meditation and writing and painting and sketching and growing and swapping of projects and all sorts of goodies yet to be revealed. I've painted once in my life. Once. So...this will be a whole new world of awesome. This is exactly the right outlet for me at exactly the right time.

The starting point for our work will be our respective power words. My 2013 power word is abundance. I regret I haven't done as much reflection and writing around that word as I'd hoped to do, so this is perfect. I first mused on abundance at the very beginning of the year...

I'm wearing pink lace panties, was the title of the post. It went something like this: "My power word is abundance. This focus on abundance led me to wear pink lace panties today. What? Yes. Because they've been in my dresser drawer, tags on, since I purchased them. Turns out, that's not a very abundant thing to do." I went on to admit: "Something I've understood intellectually for years, but I'm still trying to actually manifest in my life, is the trust it takes to do that, to let things go. I haven't fully figured out why I hold on to things that make no logical sense to hold on to, but I'm slowly practicing abundance..." {keep reading}

It's nearly July. I've thought about abundance, a lot. I've manifested it, sort of. I haven't directly written about it since that first post (though all these posts are the kissing cousins of abundance). Our collaboration is the perfect opportunity, medium, and space for me to finally start to get my mind, and my creative juices, around this massive concept.

Stay tuned, y'all. It's going to be epic.

Love,
me (+ Alexander)

Breaking the Rules | The Blog Dare Day 17

{PROMPT} I'm actually ignoring the prompt given for today because I want to post about...

...the online photography course I'm taking. I wrote about the class in an earlier post, and the good news is she opened a new session. It starts July 31. You can enroll right here. When you register (you will because she's an amazing teacher and because it's awesome), if you wouldn't mind mentioning that you heard about it from your's truly, Gail Jessen, I'd appreciate it. Laura is offering a travel photography class this fall that would be so completely perfect for me. I get a bit of a discount on that course when my friends enroll in Candela.

Okay, enough sales pitching. I want to share some photos that came out of a recent lesson. If you read my earlier post about Candela, you'll remember that it's not a photography skills course. It's a course about reconnecting with your creative intuition. It's actually about unlearning all the rules we've had drilled into us as photographers. This assignment was to specifically break the rules. Here you go...

Fabric flowers with Bagsy Blue Co.

Artist Ashley Gammill sets up for her @craftlakecity  workshop at @westelmslc. It's gonna get girly and cute up in here.
Artist Ashley Gammill prepares for her workshop at West Elm

Another month, another Craft Lake City workshop at West Elm. This time we created fabric flowers with local artist Ashley Gammill of Bagsy Blue Co. When asked why this is her craft of choice, she said that the long winters were getting her down, but flowers make her happy -- "So now, I make them every day and share them with people." I love that thought. Something makes me happy, so that's what I do every day. Cheers to that.

Tiny pink glue guns...I mean, come on. #thecuteness
Tiny pink glue guns. I mean, come on. How can this not be an awesome night?!

Little bits of cute fabric...soon to be flowers!
Fabric was donated by Riley Blake Designs.

After you put one small circle fully flat as the center of the flower, you fold the remaining circles into little funnel shapes. Put the pokey end toward the bottom and fan out petal by petal, small in the center to large on the outside.
With one small circle flat as the center of the flower, you then fold the remaining circles into little funnel shapes. Put the folded end at the bottom and fan out petal by petal, small in the center to large outside.

For my second flower I decided to mix fabric patterns together...and add a leaf. Oh la la, so fancy.
I mixed and matched the fabric we were given. Why not?

My Creative Cocoon | The Blog Dare Day 9

{PROMPT} Taking steps to fix it...

I've written a lot about creativity lately. Like, a lot. Summary: I've come to the conclusion that creativity cannot be a luxury in my life. Creativity is in fact a very necessary way through which I interact with this world and I need to intentionally cultivate it every single day. Creativity is not a passive thing for me or something that will just happen without a plan. Something that happens without a plan is called hulu.

When I wrote about enthusiasm for The Declaration of You book tour, I jotted out a little laundry list of ways I'd recently invested in rebuilding my creative mojo. With the Blog Dare prompt today, it seems an appropriate time to cultivate a more thoughtful list of bits and pieces and random goodies that are helping me get my groove back. I'm a bit of a magpie right now. I'm running around like crazy collecting shiny objects...all in the name of building a new creative home for myself.

Kelly Rae Roberts

Brace yourself, Reader, and get your clicker finger ready for a litany of link love. I discovered much of this goodness because I gave myself permission to get lost in link after link after link. Eventually I ended up weaving a big cocoon of creativity for myself (my magpie nest is now a butterfly cocoon, try and up). I feel like I'm absorbing so much right now and I will eventually bust out with something awesome (I'm now an exploding sponge). I'm not sure what will come of all this, but that's not the point right now. For me to even say that and now break out in a panicked sweat is a big big deal.

Here are the goodies I've rounded up so far...

Kelly Rae Roberts
She's my muse. As in a Greek goddess of inspiration sort of way. Her work, blog, book, e-book, and general existence on this planet is what first cracked open the door and let a dusty sliver of creative light peek through. So much love.

Radical Self Love
No nonsense, ballsy, funny, smart, radical self love brought to you by Gala Darling. She may be wrapped up in sticky sweet girly pink bows, but this shit's for real. Her e-book/audio book is called Love & Sequins. I mean, come on. To listen to her read it in her cheeky Aussie accent is pure delight.

Mapping Desire(s)
The fabulousness of Danielle LaPorte is overwhelming, to be honest. Completely overwhelming in the most beautiful, terrifying, spiritual, profound way. Somewhere deep down inside I know that The Desire Map will change life as I know it. I haven't started that journey yet because I want to get a better footing with all this before I tackle it. It's going to be a doozy. For now, I stalk her on social media and get her Daily Truth Bombs in my inbox (sign up on her website).

Color. Color. Color.
One of the authors of The Declaration of You, Jessica Swift is not only a full-time artiste extraordinaire but also the author of her own book, Jump Trust Repeat. I haven't read it yet, but I have purchased her colorful brainstorm/planner/inspiration guide of sorts. I love playing with it and synthesizing my Happiness Project goals. I also receive her daily color + words of inspiration in my inbox. Worth it. Do it.

Writing with Light
Along with my creative soul sister Jen who lives in Portland, I'm enrolled in an online photography course taught by Laura Valenti Jelen. I just blogged about it right here. Reconnecting with my passion for photography - in a more intentional way that simply Instagramming all day every day - has been an awesome exercise for me.

Owning My Badassness
Jen Sincero's book needs no annotation. Read it. Just trust me. Four of my girlfriends are now reading it and they told me to tell you to do it.

Getting Sensual
Sign up for Susannah Conway's monthly newsletter and, for free, you'll receive her 74-page ebook about exploring your senses...all with a creative end in mind. She also has a (free)  planner/calendar/reflection workbook (similar to Jessica's) that is an awesome way to intentionally move through the year. I want to take this e-course about blogging from the heart, this e-course about photography, this e-course about writing your dreams into reality, and this e-course about unravelling 'it all' and then putting 'it all' back together. Want want want.

OM
One of the primary barriers to me manifesting all this creative moxie is the fact that my life moves too quickly. It's like, really fast. Every day. I'm trying to change that. I'm redefining what success means to me and I'm allowing myself to fill slower spaces. Deepak is helping me. So is Oprah...with Deepak. My friend Cristina also emailed a ginormous list of Hay House hippie resources, but I haven't had time to work my way through that message yet. Oh, irony.

Go Mighty
Is it silliness to put "make a life list" on my bucket list, where it's waiting patiently to be crossed off? Because that's what's happening with me. The awesomeness of Mighty Life Lists is a lot to get my head around. I also want to go to Camp Mighty. For now, I just follow Maggie Mason around and dream of the day that I'll dare to do this. Seriously. Poke around this site. Be amazed. They recently posted 31 profiles of incredible people living out their life lists (the profiles are on tumblr, so you need to scroll and dig a little bit).

When I Grow Up
Michelle Ward is the other author of The Declaration of You and a creative career coach. I haven't hired her as a coach (whether I was ready for it or not is irrelevant because she's booked solid due to her awesomeness), but I do subscribe to everything she puts out there and it's awesome stuff. Sign up for her newsletter and you get access to her Dropbox site packed full of free resources! She has a bunch of books that are on my wish list. She also interviews inspiring grown-ups who have smashed the creative career glass ceiling and made it work (scroll down to the archive section toward the bottom for free access to all the videos).

There's more, but this will do for now. Welcome to my world as of late. It's pretty in here, huh?

You know who.

One meta comment about all of this: Like attracts like. It's true, people. It's true. Attach whatever New Age terms or ancient philosophies you want to this fact, but it's true by any name. It's a very simple and also very complex truth that as you raise your frequency and tell The Universe what you want (in my case, for now, proactive creativity), The Universe will respond. Immediately. Once you really mean it. It's like drinking from a firehouse, so be ready for whatever it is you're asking for (and be clear and specific) because it will come to you. Truth.

Love,
me

P.S. What did I miss? What do I need to know about? What links should I be clickety clacking? Post in the comment section and join the conversation.

My Declaration: Uniquity

Remember my Declaration of You series of blog posts? Well, it's back. Last week I shared my declaration of enthusiasm. This week? Uniquity. Yeah, I know, they made up the word. How very meta unique of them.

 photo uniquitytdoy_zpsec6712b8.png
illustration by the talented Jessica Swift.

My first and most persistent thought when I sat down to muse on uniquity was Ani DiFranco's song "Born a Lion" from her Puddle Dive album. Specifically the lyric: "Why we all gotta look, gotta act the same? I say if you're born a lion, don't bother trying to act tame." This is my jam. Actually, the whole album is my jam. Scratch that. All of her songs are my jam. Here's the deal, if you're not yet a fan(atic), allow me to take uno momento to tell you why you may need to reconsider this oversight. It's not too late to turn your life around.

This week the book/blog tour is all about unique points of view, yes? We're talking about speaking our truth and living out loud, right? I can think of no more inspiring personification of these qualities than Ani and her music. What does that have to do with my own uniquity? Well, whenever I get off kilter, or feel not so much myself, I crank it up and reset my world. In honor of this week of uniquity, I invite you do do the same. Ani's overarching themes are not only radical political singer songwriter folkie stuff -- The Boston Globe said of her style: "DiFranco sings songs the way guerrillas fight revolution" -- her music and her life are all about being who you are with no apologies. Cheers to that.

Born a Lion
Ani DiFranco
I'm not hurting anyone
no, I'm just telling my own truth
and if there
if there is something wrong
then maybe maybe there's something wrong with you
I say what's the big deal
get over it
relax
just 'cause I do up in your face
what other people do behind your back
why we all gotta look
why we all gotta act the same
I say if you're born a lion
don't bother trying to act tame
everything I do
I do for the first time
I got a big crush on you
and it's crushing my mind
can I follow you home
and just listen to you think
leave my lip prints on your cups
leave my hairs in your sink
they think I'm out there
out there living on the fringe
well
this is my world
and I invited them in
they should try living
by my rules for a day
I tell ya, nobody would die
and there'd be lots of stuff to say
I'm not hurting anyone
no I'm not hurting anyone

Disclaimer: I strongly dislike YouTube fan videos with their creepy stalkerish overtones and awful Ken Burns iMovie lazy auto edit humdrum; however, this song is from an indie folk album released in 1993. Go ahead. Try and find the audio freely and/or legallyish available for blog embedding. Bear with me, close your eyes, open your ears, and rock out. Trust.

Have an excellent week, friends, readers, and strangers who wandered by this site. Live it out loud. Celebrate uniquity. And remember: If you're born a lion, don't bother trying to act tame.

Love,
me
